Shouts & Murmurs

Some of us avoid the New Yorker for fear of going over the liberal elite edge. I can think I am better than you, I just don't want you to be able to tell when you glance up on the train and catch me reading.

That said, you simply must read "Shouts & Murmurs." It's the snide humor normally reserved for your neighbor's outfits applied to life at large. This week, Passive Aggressive Appetizers.

I've been a New Yorker subscriber for years, and I'm not exactly liberal. There's no need to fear. I just find I have to stop reading certain articles before I get mad enough to toss the thing across the room and my other magazine subscription to the National Review serves as a delightful political antidote :)

I read the Shouts & Murmurs yesterday morning and I agree, it was hilarious.

I've also been a New Yorker subscriber for years, and I also just skip the political articles that I am not interested in. Their other articles are really interesting and very in depth on a huge variety of topics - the medical and science articles are always fascinating and easy to understand (and I am NOT a science person at all). The funny stuff is usually pretty funny.

It is worth picking it up once in a while - I promise it is worth it.

I have not been a New Yorker subscriber, nor will I ever be.

But that was damned funny. Thanks!
