Michael Arrington at TechCrunch is "tired" of waiting for Apple or others to release a low-cost tablet PC. Low cost lappies, so-called Netbooks, are storming the market. They have pared down specs and usually come with open sources OSs. My mom has an eeePC and loves it. I want Arrington to succeed (and have offered my help to make it happen) because I want one of my own - particularly if it is a tablet.
My requests:
- 10" screen
- Open source (near instant-on) OS.
- OCR handwriting software
- PDF reader.
Arrington wants the basic unit to run Firefox with links to Google Docs, etc. for work. I think that's moving in the right direction. Support him!
