Not So Fast! No, really, I have a top speed of 20kh.
Boston.com/bigpicture has this shot, showing Chinese police demonstratic "anti-terrorist" activities. Interesting use of a Segway, but how are those things going to be really useful? Why not just run after someone?
don't know about these particular segways, but the consumer models go that slow because they have speed limiters on them... it has something to do with being "sidewalk transportation" or something... without the limiter, they're actually capable of higher speeds
Yeah, but a Segway isn't exactly a rugged vehicle. If a terrorist were to do something really insidious like run up a couple stairs or over a high curb, I'm guessing the Segway would have to be ditched.
What's strange is that I could see a benefit if they were to put a shield on the Segway, but apparently they did not. Instead, they seem to make the police into easier targets because I'm guessing a person's mobility is greatly limited on a Segway compared to on foot.

Perhaps because the segways won't get tired? Unless the person being chased is a marathon runner, the guy on the segway will eventually catch him...
