Atlantis and mission 122 are safely home after 12 days in the wild blue yonder. The fact that they made it home didn't make the job any less risky. It's just a testament to the care they take every time. Welcome home, Atlantis.

Apparently some of the sports reporters down in Florida covering Spring Training were taken by surprise by the sonic boom when the shuttle entered the atmosphere. The locals had a good laugh at them.
My flight landed in Orlando 10 minutes before the Shuttle landed. 2 observations:
1. Very impressive ATC that they can keep commercial flights on a regular schedule so close to Cape Canaveral during a shuttle landing
2. I've never been so bummed about missing a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Got off the plane, walked through the [noisy] airport, went out and got into a cab... Asked the driver if the shuttle had landed yet, he said "yeah - didn't you hear the sonic boom about 10 minutes ago?" D'OH!!!
